Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Fully seized of its social responsibilities towards the people of the area where the plant is situated, the company undertakes various social works on regular as well as need based basis. Some of the areas where the company focuses its attention are as under:

• The company, in order to meet the educational needs of children of the nearby area, besides the children of its own employees, runs a high school. The cost of running the high school is fully borne by the company and the company provides free education to all the students including those from the adjoining areas. There are 710 students in the school having co-education facility.   
  
  
• The company runs a Girls’ college which imparts education in humanity subjects upto graduation level. This college provides free of cost education to the girl students of the company as well as the nearby villages/localities.
  
  
• The company organizes health care and medical check up camps and provides free treatment to the local people in such camps.
  
  
• The company provides free water from its deep mining areas to the nearby villages for irrigation purpose.
  
  
• The KCL’s plant has a Disaster Management Unit (DMU) which provides help, if needed, to the outside agencies also. In one such event, the DMU saved, along with the district administration, the lives of over one hundred villagers who were trapped in a flash Flood in “Sone River” in the year 2012.
